But it wasn’t always like this.
True confession: I didn’t always love my work.
A few years ago, every time I thought about pursuing a life doing work that I love, the same set of feelings and thoughts always came up.
·    I thought I couldn’t earn a real living.
·    I was afraid that I wouldn’t be good enough.
·    I thought I needed to be an expert at my passions before I could put something out there.
·    I worried that people would think I was a fraud.
·    I felt panicky because I believed I had to focus my overwhelming interests into only one thing.

But mainly I was stuck because I didn’t know how to take a step toward doing the work I love. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I thought I had way too many passions, and I felt like a scattered leaf blowing in a gale.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I could get all my passions working for me together, under the same umbrella, in pursuit of a larger goal. I didn’t understand that having multi-passions is a huge asset. At the time, I only saw it as a liability.
My vicious cycle went something like this: I became passionately interested in something and learned everything about it. I would be convinced that this time I was on the path to my special “thing.” Then a few steps into my new path I would become overwhelmed or distracted by a new passion and would abandon the path only to start over again. I could never find traction.
I stayed stuck for years. Confused, stressed frustrated and unhappy.
Finally when I was at the end of my rope, I did something radical.
I decided to wipe the slate clean and walk away from my old life completely.
I went in pursuit of me.
I sold my 3 bedroom home and all its contents, got my belongings down to two suitcases, and moved to Italy.
While I lived in Rome I discovered three things:
1. How to use mindfulness to feel better when things got uncomfortable so I could stay on my path.
2. How my multiple passions fit together in harmony, instead of fighting with eachother.
3. How to care for myself so deeply that it radiates out and hopefully inspires others to do the same
.
I became an expert at my passions– how to recognize them, get them working for me, and most importantly, how to use them to make a living doing what I love.
It wasn’t easy; not gonna lie. I had to start from scratch. But it was so worth it, because now I have a system in place that allows me to follow my multi-passioned path, making a living doing what I love. And my system helps me deal with challenges when they arise;  I can stay on my path while dealing with feelings of being overwhelmed, stuck and frustrated.
I now feel energized, creative, and joyful.
I’m dying to share my process with you. Imagine what your life will look like when you get all your passions working together. You can create the work that is meaningful to you and share it with other people in a way that has value to them. This is what meaningful work is all about. It’s also about freedom, enjoying your life, your relationships and enjoying who you are. But you don’t have to sell all your worldly possessions and go on a travel-quest to get there.
